This automatic version is called the Galet Classic Micro-Rotor. It actually exists as a lower-price alternative to the tourbillon (go figure). While I prefer an automatic movement, I actually prefer the dial of the Double Balance Spring Tourbillon. The Micro-Rotor's dial is a bit more 1950s-1960s, but you do get Ferrier's signature long and thin hour markers and hands, as well as subsidiary seconds dial. The movement is called the FBN caliber 229.01. Aside from the solid gold micro-rotor, its most notable feature is the use of a double balance spring.

Fred H. from Salt Lake City Utah, USA asks:

3. As a dress watch, there are many good ones but as you start and I figure you want to take your time, let me suggest the following depending on your price range: a) under ,000 then get a NOMOS Tangente or Tangomat Datum, b) ,000 to ,000 get a Rolex Datejust steel or Cartier Tank steel (stylish and dressy, various models and sizes available), c) ,000 to ,000 then get a JLC Reverso (steel or best gold but might be a tad more than ,000) or better a rose gold JLC Master ultra thin which should be in range, and c) ,000 to ,000 get a Patek Calatrava gold (any color) or Vacheron Patrimony gold (any color) --- for the later, the price range might mean you get an old new stock model or slightly used, and that's fine. Any Patek from a reputable authorized dealer should be as good as new.

Piaget Gouverneur Watches Hands-On Hands-On

The whole point of the 4N watch was to be mechanically interesting, yet modern and legible. The case looks like a rectangular version of the Louis Vuitton Tambour. The time is framed in a small orange box on the dial, and yes it is very legible. Positioning the discs close together, but also giving them enough room to move around, was a challenge. The final movement is of course manually wound, and has a power reserve of 10 days (237 hours), which is quite a long time.

The crown nestles into the integrated shoulders, and is screw-down to achieve the 150m water resistance rating.

From a sheer aesthetic perspective, it is difficult to guess what an iWatch will look like. However, suffice it to say that it will have a curved screen (at least eventually), touchscreen interface, likely a few buttons, and probably some colors. Having said that, colorful watches are not considered mature devices. Apple will benefit from producing much more conservative looking iWatches so as to appeal to a wider audience. Apple will not only have to convince non-watch wearers to put on an iWatch, but they will also have to convince current watch wearers to wear an iWatch some or all of the time.

Brands like Gucci, Bulgari, and Chanel have very long and interesting histories making great watches. It just takes some experience and research as a discerning consumer, to learn which labels make watches worth looking at, and whose timepieces you may feel are better left for "everyone else."

Past those features, we're into more familiar territory. The watch communicates via bluetooth (to any phone, though iPhone and Android users will have a fuller experience), through which all manner of functionality (weather, email, calls, texting, etc) are accessible via the multi-touch e-ink screen. You will also have the ability to select between four different watch faces (analog and digital). It also has a variety of alerting built in (either vibrate or audible), including one that lets you know if you get out of range of your phone.

Max here. Glashütte Original's Senator Chronometer does almost what you are asking. In that watch, the second hands and the minute hands will move in exactly one-minute increments when turning the crown. However, I believe that the seconds hand also will move to 60 and thus the minute hands move to match each index instead of intermediary positions. I believe such a complication is called a "minute détente", which translates literally from the French as "easy minute." If you think about it, this is likely an easier design since it allows you to perfectly match a reference time looking for a new minute, rather than intermediary seconds.

For matte/satin finish bracelets use a small abrasive block to give back the grain of the watch. Something like Garyflex is perfect. This is a flexible polishing block and should be fine for home use. Go for the grey 120 grit as anything heaver will give a rough grain and anything lighter starts to highly polish the bracelet, rather than grain it. Be VERY careful with excess abrasive being left in the bracelet afterwards as this will undo all your hard work as it rubs and may damage the watch. Also be very careful not to satinize any areas that are polished as this makes life very difficult to rectify. By all means, use masking tape, but be careful it doesn't tear or wear through in places giving a ragged polished look. There are specific satin mops used in the industry and to get a straight grain is an art in itself. If this is done badly, the watch will look worse than before you started!

Replica Rolex Day Date Watches

Most wristwatches made today are hardly state-of-the-art, but rather continue a tradition of watch making set in motion long ago. One reason many collectors are interested in vintage watches is because many of them represent important achievements in technology and functionality that we take for granted today. aBlogtoWatch has done its homework and brought to you what we feel are the top 10 most technically important mechanical wrist watches. By the 1920s, consumers had accepted wristwatches as practical and pocket watch sales had started to decline dramatically. By 1930, the ratio of wristwatches to pocket watches was about 50:1.

Limited to 99 pieces, the Space Craft might end here with Romain Jerome satisfied with the run or we might see some additional versions in the future. The price is as Romain Jerome describes as "accessible." Which they remind us is not a synonym for affordable. It is just less expensive than other such "concept" watches. Price is 21,900 Swiss Francs. romainjerome.com

Replica Panerai Luminor 1950

Of the three, I fell for the white gold model due to the excellent contrast between its bright dial and black markers and handset. Surprisingly well-priced for a top-tier perpetual calendar, the white gold model will sell for ,700 with the pink gold version costing ,600 and the steel (boutique only) model carrying a massively competitive price of ,950 USD. While the steel model will likely be very hard to find, there is little in the way of equal competition at that price point. Jaeger-LeCoultre has a very appealing formula at play in the new Master Ultra Thin Perpetual: thin; legible; classically sized; and very well priced. We will update with more photos as they become available, until then, what do you think of these new JLCs?

One of the most exciting things about each SIHH watch show is visiting Cartier and seeing their new limited edition art pieces that often revolve around animals. Last year in 2012 we shared a little round-up of some of the coolest Cartier "high" art watches. Savoy Icon Watches Review Wrist Time Reviews

The Blancpain Léman Automatic Tourbillon Large Date – Lot number 7 is a watch for ladies who value jeweller’s art alongside that of the master watchmaker. This movement was the first flying tourbillon produced by Blancpain and the first to have a power reserve of eight days. Designed in collaboration with Vincent Calabrese – the originator of Corum’s ‘Golden Bridge’ and founder member of the AHCI - his delicate touch is clear to see.

We originally debuted the Citizen Eco-Drive Proximity watch back in August of 2012. Later we received a production model to review, and finally we are sharing that review with you. To be frank I have a lot of things that I could say about this watch and what it represents. To keep all that to a minimum we have split this review up into two sections. The first section will discuss the watch itself, the second will discuss the Bluetooth connectivity and functionality with the Apple iPhone. One reason for doing this is because the two functions are in their own way, separate and you can easily have this watch and use it without any pain minus any of the Bluetooth features.
